Honoring September 11th and Our Shared Commitment

Dear Readers,

Today, as we pause to remember the tragic events of September 11, 2001, we are reminded of both the fragility and the resilience of freedom. That day reshaped our nation, revealed extraordinary courage, and underscored a truth that echoes through every generation of Americans: freedom has never been free. It has always carried a cost, often paid with sacrifice, with hardship, and with blood.

In recent days, our country has again been shaken—this time by the assassination of Charlie Kirk. It is another painful reminder that the struggles we face as a nation are not behind us, but very much present. Each generation is asked to rise to the challenges of their time. None have been spared the fight, and ours is no different.

As healthcare workers, we may not stand on foreign battlefields, but we serve on the frontlines of a different kind of mission: the health and dignity of those entrusted to our care. In hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, and communities across multiple states, we fight every day against illness, suffering, and decline. In our own way, we carry forward the same spirit of service and sacrifice that has kept this nation strong.

The struggles of our country remind us that our work is not just about healthcare—it is about preserving what is good, just, and humane in the face of adversity. Each patient we serve is a testament to the values of compassion, resilience, and perseverance that have carried this nation through every trial.

Let us honor those who gave their lives on 9/11, and those who continue to pay the price for freedom today, by recommitting ourselves to our mission. As healthcare providers, leaders, and staff, we embody the truth that freedom and dignity are sustained not only by soldiers and statesmen, but also by caregivers who show up every single day to serve.

We are part of a long American story—a story that reminds us that while freedom is never free, it is always worth protecting, always worth serving, and always worth fighting for in every arena, including the one we walk into each day.

Thank you for the courage, dedication, and compassion you bring to our work. Together, we continue the fight—not only for health, but for the values that make our country strong.
