Death related to falls.

Dear Skilled Nursing Community,
We hope this newsletter finds you well. In recent years, falls have become an increasingly prevalent issue within the aging population. As a skilled nursing community, it is crucial to stay informed about the latest research and developments in the field of geriatric falls.
In the past year, several studies have been conducted that shed light on various aspects of geriatric falls. Here are some of the latest research findings:
A study published in the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society found that multidisciplinary falls prevention programs can significantly reduce the rate of falls in older adults. These programs typically involve a combination of exercise, medication management, and environmental modifications.
Another study published in the Journal of Geriatric Physical Therapy found that a home-based exercise program can help reduce the rate of falls in older adults. This study emphasizes the importance of regular exercise in maintaining balance and mobility.
A study published in the Journal of the American Medical Directors Association found that the use of assistive devices, such as canes and walkers, can reduce the risk of falls in older adults. This study highlights the importance of using the right assistive device and ensuring that it is properly fitted.
Finally, a study published in the journal BMJ Open found that vitamin D supplementation can reduce the risk of falls in older adults by up to 19%. This study reinforces the importance of maintaining adequate vitamin D levels in older adults.
These are just a few of the latest research findings in the field of geriatric falls. As a skilled nursing community, it is important to stay informed about these developments in order to provide the best possible care for our patients.
